Choose your blog layout for Typit Pro

With this theme, you get up to 4 blog styled layouts. If you are not aware of this yet, Typit Pro let’s you setup a blog where you don’t have to use featured images if you decide to keep your blog articles strictly text based.

As for featured images, the widest image when using the “Large” blog layout, should be 1010 pixels in width. If you decide to use the thumbnail cropping settings, this will be done for you as you upload images, but you will want to make sure the image you upload is equal to or larger than 1010 pixels in width.

Choose Your Blog Layout

  1. Go to Appearance >> Customize >> Theme Options >> Blog Settings
  2. Look for the “Blog Layout” dropdown setting and make your choice.
  3. Click “Save & Publish

Upload Cropped Thumbnails for Featured Images

If you want to maintain a consistent size for your post featured image, I would recommend turning on the thumbnail creation for the blog layout you choose. There are more than one thumbnail settings available, but if you do not plan to change your blog style, just choose the one for the layout you are using.

  1. Go to Appearance >> Customize >> Theme Options >> Thumbnail Settings
  2. Look for the “Crop Blog Featured Images” setting and make your choice. For example, if your blog layout was set to “Large Full Width“, then choose the “Crop featured images for the Large blog Layout” choice.
  3. Click “Save & Publish

Choose Excerpts for Your Blog Summaries

You get an option to choose excerpts for your blog post summaries. Excerpts will stay consistent to whatever number of words you set so that it keeps your blog home page looking nice and consistent. Please note that using excerpts, all formatting such as bold text, underline, images, etc., will all be stripped out from the blog home view, but they will show when you view the full post.

IMPORTANT: This option is only available for the default blog layout as the others only use “excerpts”.

  1. Go to Appearance >> Customize >> Theme Options >> Blog Settings
  2. Look for the “Blog Summary Type” setting and check the box of your choice, for example “Post Excerpt“.
  3. Look for the “Excerpt Length” setting and enter in how many words you want your excerpts to show.
  4. Click “Save & Publish

Change the Read More Button Label

You can change the label on your post summary Read More button to what you want.

  1. Go to Appearance >> Customize >> Theme Options >> Blog Settings
  2. Look for the “Read More Text” setting and type what you want your button to display
  3. Click “Save & Publish
