Another novice question. Using Jetpack, have set up widget visibility on my home page [Welcome], left sidebar. Already have a right sidebar on my blog summaries (and full width on full posts). Problem is, main page doesn’t show the left sidebar. Widgets says it’s there and Jetpack’s widget visibility is set to show if Page is Welcome.

Hi Patrick… I split this into a separate topic as it’s a different support request.
Regarding what you are describing, I just need to clarify when you say main page, are you referring to the site’s front page or the blog’s home page (where the post summaries show)? Are you using a static page for the front and if so, what is the page template you are using for it from the page attributes box in the editor (found in the right column area)?

Main page for the left sidebar that’s not showing. Also, main page is indeed a static page. Oooh, for the page attributes, it’s set to Default Template. Thinking this is where it should change?

(thanks for keeping me in check and splitting the support requests. still learning the ropes)

Ah, that will be the issue. The default template is full width, so you will want to choose the one you want from the drop down list of choices.

No worries about still learning, I’ve been at this for 8 years and still learning. Even while I update the Equable Pro theme today, I’m looking at the code and thinking I wish I could rebuild the theme with what I’ve learned since this theme was originally made 1.5 years ago.

Already tried the different options (left and right column, etc.). I didn’t update, but instead previewed changes and no sidebar. Perhaps I should also change in customizer from Full Width to Boxed 1600?

If you want to rebuild the theme, have at it. Put all of your other work on the back burner! Seriously, really appreciate your help. Will play around with a few of the settings on the static front page and see if I can get it to work.

Just realized my default template is the left column layout. That is rare because I always have the “Default” template as full width. Anyway, if you are using the static front page for your site’s front page, then select “Default” as your template. Then, for Widget Visibility, make sure the widget setting is to “Show” then choose “Page” and then in the other drop down, select Front Page.

Got it! Maybe it isn’t a normal setup, but when you rebuild the template (ha!) you can choose to change it. Anyway, when you mentioned Default Template as left column, I went back and chose left column for the page attributes. Customizer is still set up for full width. After updating, voila! Left sidebar on a static front page!

Sounds like everything is OK now then?
      If so that’s great news!

Quick update…I’ve uploaded Equable Pro version 1.1.1 which has several things fixed, enhanced, and also added full Gutenberg support (should youd decide to use it later–although this should be considered a beta). You just need to replace the existing theme files with the new theme files.

I know some people might get nervous with using an FTP program, and because WordPress does not let you use the theme installer to re-upload an existing theme, there is a plugin that does that which you can check out if this works better for you…it’s called Easy Theme and Plugin Upgrades.

Andre, newbie behavior again! I’ve installed the easy theme plugin and should have no problems there. However, where is the uploaded Equable Pro v 1.1.1?

No worries… you can get it from where you downloaded the theme from before which is in the Purchase History menu link under Members. The button to download the zip will be there and should download version 1.1.1. of Equable Pro. If not, contact us through the contact us form and I can email it to you.
